Accepted Admissions
I have accepted my admission offer. What do I do now? Who is my faculty academic advisor?
After you get an admission offer, the program will assign you an interim academic advisor. Once you confirm your intent to enroll, you will receive an email from the IMSE office. At that point, you can contact your advisor with any questions about your academic path.
For example, you might ask about courses, focus areas or how to meet degree requirements. Because your advisor knows the program well, they can help you make smart choices early. This guidance helps you feel more confident as you plan your first semester.
When will I receive my 9-digit Student (Campus) ID number and my Unity ID? What is the difference between the two?
You will receive your 9-digit NC State Student ID Number from the Graduate School after submitting your online application and paying the application processing fee. For more information on Unity and Campus IDs, refer to the Office of Information Technology (OIT) website. You will get your Unity ID and password details in your final admission letter from the Graduate School. The decision letter will be available through the online application. To access it, log in using the application password and the personal identification number (PIN) you received by email when your application account was created.
How and when should I enroll in courses?
Each semester, before enrollment opens for the upcoming semester, you will see an Enrollment Advising Hold in your MyPack Portal. The IMSE office must clear this hold before you can access the online course registration system. Be sure to contact your advisor about your coursework. For more details on how and when to enroll in courses, read the Registration and Records Registration Information.
When and where do I submit my official transcript?
You must submit complete official transcripts from each college and university you attended to the Graduate School before your first semester. If your transcripts are not on file by the end of the first semester, you may not be allowed to register for the second semester.
