Building Community
Building a strong community in the IMSE Program at NC State helps everyone feel connected and supported. When students feel like they belong, they work harder, join more activities, and do better in school. Also, they are more likely to ask for help and try new things.
Faculty and staff benefit too. In a friendly environment, they can share ideas and support each other’s work. As a result, the whole program grows stronger and more creative. Alumni also play an important role. For example, they can give advice, speak in classes, or help with internships. This way, they stay involved and help students learn about real-world careers. In addition, students gain from talking to alumni and faculty. These talks give them career ideas and help them plan for the future. Because of this, they feel more confident and ready.
Most importantly, building a community turns the IMSE Program into more than just a school. It becomes a network of people who care about each other. Over time, this support helps everyone—students, teachers, staff, and alumni—succeed together.
So, by working to grow a strong community, the IMSE Program gives everyone a chance to belong, learn, and thrive.
